Mentoring
A large part of what we do, and one of the things we are most proud of at Access Bike, is our work with disabled and vulnerable young adults through our mentoring program. These guys absolutely light up the workshop every week and very quickly become part of the family. Through learning bike mechanics, socialising and working to achieve their own goals we encourage them to recognise where their passions lie and help them to pursue them.

“Before I came here, I didn’t really spend too much time with people – I wasn’t the most social person. Now I can fix pretty much anything. I have achieved a bike mechanic qualification and the project is helping me set up as bicycle mechanic. The team have helped me so much and I am now a Mentor so I can help other people! I really like it here. It’s a fun place to hang out!”

“I’ve loved meeting new people at the project, learning bike skills and hanging out with the team. I’ve completed my mentoring sessions at Access Bike and now come every week as a part of the crew!”
